The name Gilu Joseph come into the discussion on March 2018 just after her posing for Mathrubhumi's bi-weekly magazine cover page. The magazine; Grihalakshmi published her breastfeeding photograph. The photograph published along with the Tagline "Mothers; Tell Kerala- Please stop staring as we need to breastfeed". In the light of this coverage two persons filed lodged complaint against Gilu Joseph and the Grihalakshmi magazine, they claimed that the cover photo was “obscene” and violated some acts in favor of women and children.
