The Samam progressive forum organized a talk on "Fighting patriarchy for gender justice" by the renowned dancer, actor, writer, and activist Ms.Mallika Sarabhai at the Manaveeyam street this evening.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Sarabhai talked on the need to do away with patriarchal rituals and symbols most of which are followed by the young generation blindly and without any inclination of their nuances.
She talked about the programmes she had previously done to make people aware of the right to gender justice and equal status. She also talked about her fight with communalism and patriarchy in Gujarat and about the need for tolerant living.
Ms. Sarabhai exhorted the women to assert themselves, express themselves and free themselves to see the world and experience it.
