Realme 6i launched in India, to compete with Redmi Note 9

To compete with newly launched Redmi Note 9 from Xiaomi another leading smartphone brand; Realme launched another smartphone in India named Realme 6i. The Realme rival of Remi Note 9 is considered as the lighter version of Realme 6s which is already launched in Europe and it can be considered as a budget variant of Realme 6 which is launched in India in May 2020. With this move, Realme continues their game with numerical series, and with changes in specifications, they are launching different variants in the same series in quick succession. Redmi note 9 launched for sale on July 24th and Realme launched its rival on the same day.

Design of Realme 6i is equally attractive as Redmi Note 9 but the major difference is that instead of glass back body and aura design In Redmi Note 9; Realme 6i comes with a plastic body and the cameras are aligned vertically and it's placed near to the top-right edge of the smartphone just like previous Note models of Redmi. In redmi note 9, the quad-camera array is placed in the center of the smartphone's backside. The fingerprint scanner is integrated on the power button instead of the fingerprint scanner placed just under the camera array in Redmi Note 9. Design-wise I like Redmi Note 9 as there is something fresh in its design.

The back cameras of Realme 6i are almost similar to the cameras in Redmi Note 9 but the major difference lies in the selfie camera. While Redmi Note 9 offers 13 Megapixel 2.25 aperture selfie camera the Realme 6i gives a 16 Megapixel 2.0 aperture camera. pixel-wise and aperture wise the selfie camera is better in Realme 6i and the wider aperture will offer better selfies in low light conditions.

Just like Redmi Note 9, this Realme device uses almost similar cameras in the backside. It's having a 48 Mega Pixel main camera with an 8 Megapixel camera sensor with a 119-degree ultra-wide lens for better panorama. A 2 Megapixel depth sensor and 2 Megapixel macro sensor also there in the line of the Realme 6i quad camera setup. The aperture, Field of view, and depth of field options are almost similar to the quad-camera array used in Redmi Note 9. Realme 6i smartphone offers Dolby Atmos sound support too.

Both phones are coming with a punch hole type HD plus display and Realme 6i display can be considered as slightly bigger one as due to its 6.53-inch display instead of 6.5-inch one uses in Redmi Note 9. Realme 6i uses a better refresh rate of 90Hz but Redmi note 9 uses a refresh rate of 60 Hz. So you would feel that Realme 6i display is somewhat smoother when comparing to the Reddmi rival.

Both phones use similar LPPDDR4x RAMs and offer 4GB and 6GB options along with optional 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage. The storage can extend up to 256 GB in Realme 6i but in Redmi Note 9 it can extend up to 512 GB with the support of a micro SD card. Realme 6i comes with a Mediatech helio G90TProcessor where Redmi Note 9 is coming with MediaTek Helio G85 12nm processor. Theoretically let's say the Realme 6i would perform better when compared to redmi Note 9. The Realme 6i runs on Android 10 based Realme UI and Redmi note 9 on Android 10 based MIUI 11.

Both phones offer Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type-C connectivity features. The Realme 6i smartphone comes with a 4300 mAh battery with a 30W Flash Charge fast charging facility but the Redmi Note 9 offers 5020 mAh with 22.5W fast charging and 9 W reverse charging facility; this is considered as an advantage of Redmi Note 9 over Realme 6i.

This Realme 6i smartphone priced ₹12,999 for 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, but same specification of RedmiNote 9 is available at a lower price of ₹11,999. If you are purchasing both phones with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB Storage: you can buy both phones at ₹14,999. Still, Realme 6i misses a middle variant as Redmi note 9 has. Redmi note 9 offers another 4 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM model at ₹13,499. Realme 6i is available in Eclipse Black and Lunar White colors and will be on sales from 31st July through Flipkart and Realme e-Commerce portal.
